Octotel have a fibre break affecting customers in Rondebosch/Kenilworth area. The following roads are affected: Third Ave, Rosmead Ave, Edward St, Hereford St, 2nd Ave, Harfield Village, 55a Bell Road, Hereford Cres, Princes Rd, Leicester St, Campground Rd, Bell Rd, Third Avenue, Weltevreden Ave, Glenthorne Ln, Lochiel Road, Muir Road. Engineers are onsite inspecting the damaged cabling caused by an independent contractor.

We are aware of an outage on the Octotel network affecting customers in Strand and Somerset West. We have alerted Octotel.

Upstream2 - with failover on Equiano West Coast cable The WACS undersea cable has been damaged. Both upstream providers affected. We are waiting for an upgrade in Equiano capacity which will hopefully take a few days. Expect higher than usual international latency in peak traffic hours (19:00-23:00).

Upstream1 - with failover on EASSy East Coast cable The WACS undersea cable has been damaged. An underwater landslide from the Congo River is the suspected cause. The cable break requires a repair ship to be dispatched. Estimated time to repair is 6-8 weeks, depending on weather conditions. Expect higher than usual international latency in peak traffic hours (19:00-23:00).
